Palouse Mindfulness is an online-based training program stretched over 8 weeks, teaching people the well-known meditation/awareness technique called mindfulness-based stress reduction. This online course is mainly for those who aren’t able to attend the LIVE event seminar hosted by professor Dave Potter.

The primary aim of the MBSR course is to educate and teach people about how to deal with stress and followed anxiety themselves without the external help of a professional. Self-Help is becoming very popular in all areas of life whether it’s stress, emotions, or general health because it simply works.

Anyone can complete the course at own speed and there are not any strings attached to some deadlines or scorings, a student has overall control and privacy during the process, and there isn’t even registration required to go through and complete the course. Although one can work at own speed, it is preferable if a student can dedicate at least 35 minutes per day for the length of the MBSR course.

Everyone gets also access to the online community to ask questions, share thoughts or progress with other members participating in the course.

The course is in the form of weekly videos and text training material, with the certificate of completion accompanied by the personal sidenote and congratulation from Dave Potter himself free of cost of course.

What is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction?

MBSR is a technique is based on John Kabat-Zinn’s program and research from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and many other renowned teachers such as Thich Nhat Hahn or Tara Brach.

It is a very interesting mix of the practice of awareness, meditation, body movement such as yoga, to calm down and learn how your body and mind together are connected and deals with everything around you, your own Reality.

Since Jon Kabat-Zinn is one of the most important and known figures, also being called the pioneer of mindfulness I have no doubt that the Palouse Mindfulness course will have a positive effect on anyone taking it, especially since it’s for free.

MBSR courses are so popular and happening LIVE all around the world from Los Angeles, New York, to London or Sydney. The experience from the live workshop event is much stronger, but the online course is being balanced by convenience and time flexibility.

What Really is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is not specifically described. We can find some very different contexts and understandings of mindfulness, here are some very good definitions:

“Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment.”    – Jon Kabat-Zinn

Paying attention to present moment experience with open curiosity and a willingness to be with what is.”     – Diana Winston of UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center
